Troubleshooting

Common issues, solved

Most problems fall into one of these. Try the steps here first — if none of it helps, email us.

My import didn't pick up everything

Heavily designed resumes — multi-column layouts, text inside images, unusual fonts — are harder to parse than simple ones. If sections came through empty, try exporting the original as a plain PDF or .docx and importing that instead.

For LinkedIn, use the profile's own "Save to PDF" export rather than a screenshot or a printed page.

Anything that didn't come across can be typed straight into the editor — the import never overwrites work you've already done.

A camera scan came out garbled

Scanning depends heavily on the photo. Lay the page flat, fill the frame with it, avoid shadows and glare, and shoot straight down rather than at an angle.

Faded print, handwriting, and coloured or textured paper all reduce accuracy considerably. If you have any digital copy of the resume at all, importing that file will always give a better result than a scan.

Dictation isn't producing bullets

Check that microphone and speech recognition permissions are granted for Resume Pilot in your device settings — the feature can't run without both.

Dictation needs an internet connection to transcribe. Speak in full sentences describing what you actually did ("I managed a team of six and cut response time by 30 percent") rather than isolated keywords — the more context you give, the better the bullets come back.

My score seems low and I don't know why

Open the score breakdown — it shows where the points went and lists specific fixes rather than just a number. The most common losses are bullets with no measurable numbers, weak opening verbs, a missing or thin summary, and incomplete contact details.

Fix the items at the top of the list first; they carry the most weight. The score updates as you edit.

The export looks different from the preview

The live preview is designed to match the exported file exactly. If something has shifted, it's usually very long unbroken text — a URL or a single huge bullet — forcing a reflow.

PDF is the most faithful format. Word (.docx) exports are intentionally editable, so Word may re-flow spacing slightly depending on the fonts installed on the opening machine. Send the PDF when the exact layout matters.

I paid for Unlimited but it isn't unlocked

First, make sure you're signed into the same store account you purchased with, then use Restore Purchases in Settings — this re-checks your entitlement with the store.

Purchases can take a minute to confirm on a slow connection. If it still hasn't unlocked, email us with your store receipt and we'll sort it out.

Can I move my resumes to a new phone?

Because everything is stored locally on your device and there's no account syncing it, resumes don't transfer automatically between devices.

The reliable route is to export what you need as PDF or Word before you switch, then import those files on the new device.

Help us fix it faster

Copy this into your email — it gives us everything we need to reproduce the problem on the first try.

Please don't email us your resume unless we ask. It contains personal information, and we can usually diagnose the problem from the steps alone. If we do need it, we'll say so and delete it as soon as the issue is resolved.
